Yup, that's what I want, a .50 Browning Machine Gun capable revolver.

And, no, I don't want one that's even worse than the .600 Nitro or whatever that hits the guy in the head. I want something shootable.

I didn't say it's easy. I'm tired of hearing about that old technology, even though a long action would be neat to shoot.

How about figuring out how to put some nice shock absorbing capability into a revolver?

If you flip the cylinder up to the top of the barrel, you could slide the whole cylinder/barrel assembly backwards to absorb the firing shock. And the barrel would get closer to the top of the grip.

Yes, you would might want something to protect the shooter's hand from the barrel/cylinder gap leakage.

And I know that nobody has really solved the problem of putting necked cartridges in a revolver. So solve it already.

At least that's what I'm wishing for.

I like the idea but to have that much powder burning through the barrel wouldnt push the bullet verry whell due to the fact that even in the rifles you have a large muzzle flash. Just think of what kind of a power loss you would have even with a 14" barrel. Does sound fun though!!

Fantastic idea. They could put an extra key lock on the other side too, to make it safe.

I want to see an IWB holster for that baby. Damn gun would weigh twenty pounds.

Damn, that would be more powerful than Jug Johnson's .44-50 Jug!

A revolver that would handle those kind of chamber pressures would be so big, it would be unwieldy. It would be rediculously big. I'm thinking it would be atleast twice the size of a S&W X-frame and then only hold about 3 rounds. The ammount of unburned powder would be a huge waste. The muzzle flash would probably burn the shooter, that's if he could actually hold onto the thing when it's fired.

I had the opportunity (if you would call it that) to shoot a single shot bolt action rifle chambered in that cartridge. At the time I weighed about 255. Two grown (and "big") men supported me from the rear, and when I let loose with the shot it almost knocked all three of us over! My shoulder and back was sore for a week after, and I felt "punchy" for a few days!!! I will never do that again!!! Believe me...you would not want to shoot that cartidge in a pistol!!

You guys aren't going to believe this, but I know of two .50 BMG revolvers that exist. They were custom made by a guy in Southern Illinois. The gunsmith that is modifying my S&W 915 showed me pictures in a little photo album he had. I swear I am not making this up. And I will tell you that they are very FREAKISH looking.

And when you start, please make a 700 Nitro Express and a 577 Tyrannosaur revolver as well. We need proper guns for wilderness hiking.

I hope they will be in Scandium and Titanium to keep their weight reasonable.

Really now, think, If they took their 50cal. rd. thats in their big cannon and cut the case down to 45acp. size and put a 265 gn. swc bullet at say 800fps. in it and made a L frame 5 shot 3" round butt FS. I could see that as an idea SD gun. I'd sure buy one. Instead of "Bulldog" you'd have the "BIGDOG"

Back in the early 80's, the magazine "American Rifleman" had a picture of a Guy shooting a Pachmayr Dominator chambered in .50 BMG.
There were flames from the floor to the ceiling.
He had the compensator turned 90 degrees before, but it was knocking everything off the benches three stalls down, and the range wouldnt let him shoot it till he turned it up!
(He was voted most likly to blow himself up)
