I would like to see a 50 S&W Special (500 S&W shortened to "special" length), ie. 350gr bullet @ 800fps.
Put it in a "640 styled" gun (use a shortened 500 S&W cylinder and frame) with a 327 PC barrel shroud (2 3/4") w/ Big Dot tritium front sight, 5-shot defensive revolver. Then make a 4-6" target version.

I can dream, right?

Also, make it affordable.

Todd,
Interesting. Just today, I tossed a note to Hamilton Bowen to see if he can do a .50spl. conversion on my M24-3.
We'll see and happy to check back with you.

Thanks, I wonder if the barrel shank is big enough to allow for the conversion. Keep me posted.

Zan,
Hamilton says no can do. The 50's are reserved for the big Rugers. He says that an N-frame could possibly be converted to ".50 GI" but the cost would be so prohibitively expensive with no real advantage.

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll work on an another design idea.

Icambre,

Thanks, that was good reading.

I have mocked-up a 50 spl (actual 38/44/spl case length) with a 350 gr bullet to see what it would look like. Now I just have to figure out how to make a revolver around it.
