I arrived in sunny south east asia aboard a C-130. the trip started at Tinker AFB, OK. then to Travis AFB, CA-Hickham, HI-Anderson, Guam, then Clark AFB, PI. after a few days in the PI, off to Cam Rahn Bay, RVN. checked in with the unit I was TDY to and they said we were needed down south. three hours later back on a C-130 to Bien Hoa AB. after a few days of training there, over to Lasater Army Air Field and a UH-1(slick) to An Loc, home of C troop, 3/17 Air Cav. my buddy and I were the first AF Tactical Air Controllers to work with that unit and they weren't real sure what we were supposed to be doing. imagine that. after explaining our mission to the commanders we finally got to work doing what we were trained for. I could make this a book about all the other places I went after that(two six month TDYs and then a year tour) but I won't bore you with details. lee
