I know this may sound silly, but how about a carbine version of the .460 and .500 Mag revolvers. A nice 14.5 inch barrel with a 2 inch muzzle break, synthetic furniture and a nice rail on top for an optic would be choice. Sure, they would have to put up a blast shield like the Taurus Judge long gun has and that would look a bit odd, but it would perform.

The carbine would be one bad hunting longarm and great here here in PA since we cannot use semi autos. I also posit that the .460 could greatly benefit from a longer barrel for some more extreme ballistic performance. I would buy one...

The Taurus can get away with a thin sheet metal guard as the pressures of a .410 and .45 Colt are low. I've seen pics of what was left of a thumb that got closed around the cyclinder gap of an X frame. Bye-Bye thumb. There's a company making a .500 lever action based on a cross between the Winchester 86 & 92 called the Model 89. T/C chambers the Encore in those cartidges which would be a nice short carbine.

I have seen the mythbusters episode with the X frame and the chicken hands, which was quite good. However, this type or carbine would be possible as long as one wears long sleeves of a fire resistant material.

I posit that the hot jet of gas could be diverted and deflected so as to prevent serious injury. Of course, a fair amount of engineering would be needed. This is still just a wish...
