Finally got to take my new 6 1/2" 500 magnum out to the range yesterday. Franky, I don't see what all the fuss is about when listening to people talk about the recoil. I took my model 27-3 along also and to be honest, the 500 wasn't much worse than .357 magnums through the 27-3. It was a hoot to shoot and turned full sized cabbages to cole slaw instantly! Anyone out there that is on the fence about buying and firing one of these beasts should just do it - they're great!

i have the 500 in my sights cause i have fired the 460 and i love it for hunting situations

I'd love a 6.5" Of course, if I got one, then I'd have to get one of those ES too to round out the lineup.

I just bought a New 460 XVR yesterday... matter of fact that's how I found these forums and joined, I am looking for the right bases, rings and holster to carry this Hand Canon for hunting.... I already have a straight 4 power Leupold scope to mount on it, I can't wait..... any info you folks can lend would be greatly appreciated...

Not much worse than a .357?? What ammo were you shooting? No sane person would say that a full house 440 gr round is similar to any .357 other than the insane 12oz scandium guns with a full snort. Don

Glad you like it, the 500 is on my list for this year, decided I'd hunt with one and let the MK V's take the year off

SSK Industries T'*** scope mount is one heck of a mount (they note the "T" sands for Tough, take a look at their website. Handgun … | SSK Industries

I'm sure there are over the counter options, but I have this on my 454 after the factory mounts broke. Remember aluminum kills, the shooter.

Well, I didn't say I was shooting "full house 440 gr round" now did I? And, you may be right about the sanity issue also! I found a few boxes of 330 gr and it certainly wasn't much worse than the full house loads of .357 magnum. Blowing the cabbages up at 50 and 75 yards was quite easy to do and it was a boatload of fun! A very well built gun if I may say so myself.

No doubt that some .500 Mag rounds are no big issue, I have two 500s and reload from TrailBoss plinkers to full house and that's one of the beauties of the guns. Don
