54 years and a Bag 'o Ruger

When I was just a new 21 year old in 1968, I bought this Ruger Single-Six convertible. I couldn't afford to go the extra $10 for the adjustable sight Super Single-Six . I have channeled my inner "Bubba" on the poor old girl quite a few times. At one point, she sported a 3X9 Bushnell rifle scope !
About 15 years ago it went back to Ruger for a worn out part issue. It came back with the dadgum "lawyer" conversion hammer and parts. They also gave me a nice 15 lb. trigger pull !?$#! .... I was NOT happy ! Sooooo.. I just put it away in disgust. A couple years ago I came across the grips shown on it in the pics. I really liked them on the old girl. A few weeks ago I decided I would try to swap out the new parts with the old parts and get her back to baseline.
Longer story short .... I took a "bag 'o Ruger" to my local merciful gunsmith. He took my "bag 'o Ruger" and turned it back into a firearm..... WITH the old parts . Maybe .... just maybe, I won't be messing with her anymore.

Nope. They are some kind of molded plastic material. Maybe somebody will chime in on the brand/maker of these.

I took a "bag O' S&W" back to the factory in 1978. Nice man at the Service Center counter told me to go have lunch and come back. I did what he told me. I left there with a complete model 60 with a trigger job and a set of rosewood banana stocks - all at no charge. They took care of cops back then - even stupid young ones who pried the side plates off their revolvers…..

I am laughing/smiling .... mostly for remembering my LEO younger brother and his 4 screw M&P 2" bbl misadventure.

S&W had Regional Service Centers across the Country…In the early 70s there was one in Tampa, Florida….I had taken my pre- school Son to see the Circus and one of the acts startled him and He jumped on my back, kicking my pride and joy Model 19 to the concrete floor….I immediately recovered it and thought something had to be broke…..I made the trip after working mids that night and met the Gunsmith….He removed the side plate screws and Grips and whacked the pistol on his wooden table to remove the side plate…He pulled out the internals and stoned the parts, He than installed a White Outline Rear sight blade and put it all back together …..Wouldn't take any money…No Charge and gave me a S&W keychain…. Before I drove back , I did drop off a bottle of refreshment he requested…. Yes, they did take care of young, dumb Police back than…
