Any truth to the rumor that Smith is going to introduce an L frame in .40 S&W and an N frame in 45ACP using the extractor system found on the 547 at the 2012 Shot Show???

If they do, you gotta think the MSRP would be well over $1,000. I wouldn't even think they would, being as concerned with cost-cutting as the gun makers are anymore. Wasn't the extraction system (and it's expense to manufacture) the reason the 547 died in the first place? Granted, MIM wasn't as in fashion back then...maybe they can find a way to make the system cheaper nowadays.

I'd love a 940 with that extraction system!

I don't need to another calibre, the .40, to my reloading bench, but the .45 sounds interesting.

Also, I am all for re-introducing the 547 and a 940 with the 547 extractors.

I'd be interested in an L Frame in 10mm (rather than .40 S&W).

I get the point of using moon clip ammo, I get the point of the 547 since they wanted to still be able to use their 9mm ammo, I get that Charter will sell some of these since many people don't know how great moon clips are, but I don't see why S&W would tool up to produce such a thing in this day and age when most of the moon clip guns they sell actually sell because the buyers know how great moon clips are. I see this as far more of an interwebs rumor mill gun than a reality, but I have been wrong plenty of times before now.

I agree. As an owner of a 610 and 625 I consider moon clips to be a 100% win with zero downside. Fact is that I don't shoot my 38's or 357's nearly as much as I used to because they just aren't nearly as convenient to load. Moon clips are dirt cheap compared to speed loaders and are some much more convenient to carry in a range bag. Just wish that more holster makers would wake up and start offering moon clip carriers that "dress" well.
