571 Area Code

So I had a .22 advertised on another forum, and get a PM from someone local to me in Florida, but with a 571 area code, i.e. the part of Virginia that's chock full of alphabet agencies. I'm inclined to kind of "forget" that he contacted me. Am I too paranoid?

Don't know, but plenty of people carry their out-of-state cell phone numbers to new places, especially Florida. Give him a call?

I would be more interested in his history on that forum and others. If he is a relatively new member, posting a bunch of filler posts to meet the post count, ignore him. If he has been there for years, buys and sells on the forum, belongs to other forums, etc, why worry about his area code?

Lots of people in Las Vegas have out of state area codes because their cell is their only phone. My wife is one of them. Former great nephew was pressured into dumping his Florida number by his employer here because of long distance calling issues.
