Close to a year ago I was at my Local Gun Store to pick up a Wilson Combat CQB that I won on GunBroker, and they were handling FFL responsibilities for me.

As I was filing out the Paperwork and take delivery, a guy walked in with an armful of gun rugs. It turns our he was selling some S&W Revolvers. A few 686's and a nice 586. I had only ever seen one 4" 586 in the flesh in the past and I passed on it.

Long Story/Short, I called dibbs on the 586, and I ended coming back that day for it.

It had a set of Hogue Monogrips that I replaced with a gorgeous set of John Culina/Kurac Reproduction Smith & Wesson Combat Target Finger Grooves in Bubinga.

I got it out to the range a few times, and it was very, very impressive.

Last week, I took it to the range, and I put 20 rounds all in the black. For an occassional shooter like me, this is impressive performance. This may be my favorite Handgun now. It is certainly top three with My Wilson CQB and my Colt Series '70.

I know there are a lot of 586 fans out there. I just love everything about it.

I have attached a few shots of the 586, and I'll put one of the CQB in too, since I wouldn't have gotten dibbs on the 586 without picking the CQB up.

Be careful, they grow on you! I started out with a 4" no dash. Liked it so much, I added a 6", 686-3. Earlier this year, picked up a 5" 686-6, Pro Series. I think I am done buying L frames. Bob

That 586 is just gorgeous. Looks like you have some trigger skills too.

Well, this revolver is so smooth shooting in single and double action that it makes me look good.

The 586 really is a modern classic. It may be the best overall offering from Smith and Wesson when all things are considered. It is definitely Top 5.

My 4" 586 has a patridge front sight with a gold bead on it. Great gun. 4" k&L frames in full lug are great shooting guns IMHO, Those Kuracs are really sweet.

I'd love to see a pic of yours.

And yes, these Kuracs are beautiful. John Culina outdid himself with these. I have gotten several compliments on them at the range. Form and Function. I highly recommend a set. They are a few bucks, but they are worth it.
