Hello to everybody here in the forum,

here's my new purchase, a "special edition" engraved 586-2 manufactured in 1982.

Does anyone has informations about the model...?
Has this special edition been issued for a specific event ?

I'm still looking for informations about my factory laser engraved 586-2 special edition.
The only information I was able to find is that it is part of a "special order" manufactured in 1982.

Since this was not engraved with an organization, event or individual's name, this was probably done as a single special order gun. If you want to learn more about it, a factory historical letter would be helpful:

Firearm History Request - Smith & Wesson

The wait time for a letter is about 3-4 months at present. Hope this is helpful.

Did you get the box with it? If so there should be a product code on it, that might help us track it down. Also the -2 came out in 1987 I believe so there's an anomoly regarding the date of manufacture.

I don't think they laser engraved back in 82, it would be hand engraved. i could be wrong though, but i think that tech was not that readily available.

yes it is, no intention to knock it, as it is a beaut! i just didn't think we were such an advanced civilization back then to laser engrave.

well, thanks to everybody for the answers and the appreciations to my gun.
Here's some more pictures, with some details of the engravings.
I'm not an expert and I cannot say if it is a laser engraving.
