I just brought home my new to me 586 no dash S&W. It is a 4" barrel and target stocks, trigger, and hammer. I love the figure in the wood and how dark it is. It is in really good shape with a turn line being the only blemish I could find so far. This is the replacement for one I traded away last year. I regretted it immediately, even called and tried to buy it back. No dice. It is a 1983 model. How do you like it! Thanks to FT for the sale.

After I shot my 586 for the first time, I like it so well it became one of my ready revolvers. I can't think of a higher complement.

You are now the proud owner of the most beautiful-est, best-est revolver ever built by anyone.

Congratulations.

Wanna sell it? :D

That's a nice one. I had a 6" 586 and sold it and like you I regretted it. I bought a 6" 686 and a 4" 586 to replace it. These two will not be sold.

This thread brings back memories. I also sold my 6" 586 a couple years ago and it didn't take long after that I regretted. I was fortunate to replace it with the two below. Really like shooting these.

I talked to an old friend today who ordered a 6" 586 in the early 80s. He wanted it with the target sights, hammer, and trigger. It was a very good looking piece when it came in. I asked him if he still had it but like a lot of us, he let it go for something else. And he has the same regrets as us.

Just picked up a used 586 4" trying to get some info on age. Serial BJJ52xx product code 193534. Any insight would be great

The BJJ could be hard to nail down...I'm going to guess '93 or '94. The 193534 code isn't listed in the SCSW but 103534 is listed...misread or misprint? The 103534 code is listed twice with some significant differences between the two. Is yours a RB or SB? If it is early '90's as I suspect then I assume it is SB TS RR WO with the 4" barrel as you stated.:)

My only insight is to call Smith&Wesson, they can tell you. Or if you sell it to me I will tell you everything about the pistol.

Too funny, going to the range on Sunday, so won't know if it's a keeper until then

Those 586's just have a classic look to them. Especially in 4 inch. That and a 29-2 are on my lust list.
