You state in your original post that it is a 1983 model but the serial # puts it much later than that. If you look on the gun you will find 586-? and I am going to guess a 3 but could be a 4. Some prefer the dash 3 or 4 due to the engineering changes. I have a no dash and a dash 3...like them both!

So...you have an L frame 4" 586 with:

SB square butt
TS target stocks
RR red ramp front sight
WO white outline rear sight


Only the best .357 ever made!!! The mod 27 lovers will have to forgive me......the L frame fits my hand better.

I would be interested if it is truly a no dash and if I am wrong on the codes...

I have a 586 identical to yours. Shoots very nicely, not one that will leave my collection.

Shot it on Sunday with 38 and 357. The 357 were very difficult to eject. Wonder if any others had the same issue.

Joe. It's probably powder residue built up in the cylinder due to shooting .38s. It leaves a ring of residue and when you put the longer .357 rounds in the casings bind against the residue.
Scrub the cylinders good with Hoppes removing the residue and you should be good.

Cleaned the gun before going to the range, put 18 rounds of 38 through before loading the magnums. They were heavy magnum loads. Could that have been an issue?

I am not sure if that caused your problem ,were they reloads? The other thing is sometimes it takes something like lite steel wool and pass it through the cylinders to remove that ring of residue.
