Picked up a used 586-8 today, but my book is in storage. It's in jail for 10 days. Can someone please tell me how old it is. Serial # DJA53xx.

Your Model 586-8 .357 Distinguished Combat Magnum (DJA53xx) was most likely manufactured in 2017. The 6-shot 586-8 was introduced by S&W in 2012, it has the internal lock, and is still in production. You didn't mention if your revolver has a 4" or 6" barrel. It should be a smooth and accurate shooter. Enjoy!

It's a 4 inch with a pinned red ramp front sight. I'd like to replace with a patridge when I can find one in stock. My eyes pick up the flat faced blade much better. " old man" eyes.
