5903 Barrel

eBay or Jack First, but what's wrong with your current barrel?

This 5903 has a straight barrel which does not fit or operate correctly and by serial# this pistol
should have a wide hood barrel

Post a pic or two of what you have, it might make it easier to get you the right info.:)

So are you saying that the barrel you currently have does NOT have the "belled" or rounded end (larger than the barrel diameter) that mates with the fixed barrel bushing of the 3rd gen model 5903?

All of the "straight" or unbelled barrels were for the 1st and 2nd gen pistols which used the removable bushings.
Also all the 1st and 2nd gen pistol barrels were of the narrow hood variety.
And yes, all of the 9mm, 3rd gen, 4" pistols, whether TDA, DAO, or frame decock used the same barrel. The only difference was wide or narrow hood.

Multiple variations of 5903 barrel. Same as 5906, 5943, 5946. Different from 5903TSW, 5906TSW, etc. Different from 910 (without top lug???). They are also different from Performance Center barrels which have a straight muzzle end unlike the picture below.

909/910

Main concern is narrow (approx 1/4 in) barrel hood (early) vs wide (approx 3/8 in) barrel hood (late). If in doubt check width of slot in top of slide.

There are also some minor variations in the geometry of 5903/5906 barrels near the lugs at the bottom which do not affect performance - not to be confused with the differences in the lug area of the 5903TSW/5906TSW barrels which are incompatible with the non-TSW pistols.

Thanks, Ed!
My mistake.
I was thinking of 3rd gen base models.
910 missing top lug but will fit.
TSW barrels also will fit but have a slightly different angle on camming lugs.
Mea culpa.

John, am I mistaken about the TSW barrels being odd - I thought the lug geometry was slightly different.

Best and Happy Holidays.

No, you are not mistaken, Ed.
The angled camming(de-camming?) lugs on the bottom on the TSW models are about 2 degrees more vertical than the base models, allowing for a longer lock-up and later unlocking.
Curiously, that is only on the 9mm/40s&w models.
On the 45 models, angles are the same between base and TSW models.
