Bought one of the Bud's police trade-ins model 5903. reading the on-line manuel and it says"manufactured with a automatic firing pin block. The automatic firing firing pin block prevents the firing pin from moving forward and firing a chambered cartridge unless the trigger is held fully rearward. these pistols can be carried with a round chambered and the safety/decocker lever in the down(safe) position." My question is when I carry the pistol chambered, hammer down and safety off can the pistol still be fired if accidently dropped on the hammer with the trigger fully forward? Just asking to be positively sure so there are no accidental discharges. All feedback appreciated. Thanks.:D

Hi, nap637!

That is precisely what the hammer block safety is for;
to prevent accidental discharges if the pistol is dropped or the hammer is somehow struck.
The trigger must be moved to the rear of it's travel before the firing pin is free to move forward.

Thanks guys. My OCD feels better now, Ha. Much appreciated. I will work on some pics. It was actually in decent shape, a bit dirty, alittle rust on hammer and sights. I think there is some pitting in barrel next to a couple lands or it's from machineing. S&W said it was made in 08/2000. Sent to a supplier in Puerto Rico. There is engraving on frame , slide an barrel; AF 03.41.pcd61 eh1. Has Hogue rubber grips that make the grip feel fat on my small hands. So I ordered original grips from SW and will take 4-8 weeks. $29. sounds low but that's ok. Haven't shot it yet but should this week. Thanks again.
