5904 slide problem

I have a 5904 and diassembled and cleaned it.While trying to assemble it, which I can't fully, the slide will not go back to the stop notch and the recoil spring guide was sticking out past the barrel before I took the slide stop pin out. The slide is stuck and won't move. How do I get the pistol disassembled from here?

You might try twisting the protruding end of the guide rod, (clockwise, then counterclockwise) with your fingers. Sometimes this will cause the spring and rod to snap into proper alignment. Once the end of the recoil guide snaps back into the slide, you should be able to disassemble normally.

Yep, I'd wager that the recoil spring guide rod head is not in its proper position.
