hi sw fans,
being a s&w revolver guy, no smith autos YET, have a chance to purchase a later round trigger guard 5904. i do not see much here about it, and just a little in the standard catalog. everyone likes the 3rd gen guns, just looking for a little more information on the 5904. also, what magazines can be used from 3rd gen guns in the 5904? thanks.....sw dan

Dan, Had a 5904, loved it! Just that my daughter wanted it worse than me! I liked that it was black, and lighter than an 06. Any 5900 magazine will work, 59,659,5903, etc.

The 5904 will wear out sooner than an 5906. The 06 would probably last 500,000 rounds while the 04' might die after 400,000 :D

As had been said, any of the fullsize mags will work (5906/659/etc). The newer ones are 15rd while some of the older ones are 14rd.

Mecgar makes......
15rd mags
17rd mags (flush fit)
20rd extended

S&W also sold a 20rd. The Mecgar mags are thought of as equal to the S&W mags (as they are the OEM for several manufacturers).

Dan , since your a revo guy the 5904 is like the M19 not rare and will handle anything you can feed it . Just not a steady diet of the +p, that's what a 5906 is for. I wish the finish was a 'bit' more robust other than that I love mine, just put over 300 rds through it on last Saturday and like always no drama. As said I don't think you can hurt 5906 and will have work hard to hurt a 5904/3 . Since we all like pictures here's mine .
