5906 / 5946 NOS

Has anyone got the straight story on the batches of 5906 and 5946 NOS pistols that hit the market in the last few months? There must have been a few hundred of the 5906 and maybe less of the 5946, but multiple sellers with 20 or more each.

On doing a bit of research, at least 1 each 5906 (KNC11xx) shows a Manufacture Date of 7/1998 according to SW, with a Ship Date of 8/2013 according to Roy Jinks and a Date Code of 011119 on end of box and a 10 round magazine.

Also a 5946 (VJP35xx) shows a Manufacture Date of 5/2009 (Yes 2009) per SW also with a Ship Date of 8/2013 according to Roy Jinks and a Date Code of 011419 on end of box and a 15 round magazine.

I would assume with the current um... climate somebody said lets push these out and try and sell em.

Or they stumbled across them and just decided to sell..

I would work on the premise that these were guns that were kept in reserve for warranty replacements for LE contracts.

Now that just about every agency has replaced their 3rd Gen guns, they became surplus and were sent out to distributors and FFLs for sale as NOS.

An interesting question would be what kind of warranty will S&W provide moving forward.

They are being sold as "Used" but "NOS" - so that is a great question

Who has them for sale? I have been on the hunt for a 3rd gen.

Buds had the 5906 for 739 - they still had a few in store only - but you can always call. There are also some on GunBroker site but more pricey. Best deal was $566 but they sold out months ago. Look up 108176U or UPC 022188877793
