5906 conversion......

Just a thought......but would anyone have a comment on the feasability of converting (modifying) a 5906 to shoot the .357Sig? I am aware the breechface would need to be changed to accomodate the larger casing, among other necessary modifications, like the chamber resizing, heavier recoil spring, etc.

I have an extra 5906 slide and barrel and wondered if this would be doable.

Criticism, and the usual posts like "why would you do that"? are welcome.

As noted above, you definitely need a 4006 slide. It's significantly heavier (top of slide much thicker) than a 5906 slide to reduce slide velocities and using it would eliminate the breech face/extractor issues. Probably would also allow you to check the barrel fit and see if there's enough extra space to show if the .40 chamber area is larger.

If you can find Cor-Bon 9 mm ammo, you're already in spitting distance of .357 Sig. I wouldn't worry about the difference.

On the other hand, if you want to tinker, I can sympathize, did mine on a 64-5 that needed rescue.

You can use a 4006 slide but you will need the barrel bushing for a 5900 and then you can simply rechamber a 9mm barrel and a 20 lb recoil spring.
