5906 mfg year? Help

I bought a LNIB 5906 several weeks ago and havent been able to find out year of mfg. Can anyone tell approximate year of mfg? I have the SWSC but the 3 letter code isn't there..

mbliss, I would guess 1988-1989 as TCB prefix is 1988 and TED prefix is 1989. Your TDK prefix should fall between those two.

Thanks Bill. That is an early 5906. I got it from a forum member. It is in excellent condition. Looks brand new.

You are welcome and that is an early one. I bought a 5906 last month that was in great shape and is a good shooter with no issues. It is has a VAN prefix that puts it in 1994. The grips were a little banged up and the guys at S&W said they would have some new ones in a couple of weeks for around $18, so I got them ordered.
