Anyone with experience using the MecGar 17 round magazines in a 5906? Generally I prefer S&W to aftermarket magazines, but I have had good luck with MecGar in other pistols - mostly wondering about 17 rd vs standard 15 rd

I've got several 15 and 17 round Mec-Gar mags for my 5906. They work fine. I've also been running the 20 round Mec-Gar mags in my Marlin Camp 9 for years. I honestly don't recall ever having a FTF while using a Mec-Gar 59XX magazine.

Have used literally dozens of MecGar 5900 mags, 15, 17, and 20 rounders, can't ever recall an issue. Haven't seen anything to make me think they're not at least as good as factory mags.

You can't go wrong with Mec-Gar... they are as good as "factory" mags because many pistol manufacturers utilize magazines that were OEM'ed for them by Mec-Gar to begin with.

Use them in my CZ 75's and S&W 459/559, with no issues at all.

They’re all I use in my full size third gen. Nary an issue. I don’t even have a factory 15 rounder.

I have S&W factory, Mecgar fifteen round, and extended seventeen round magazines. As people have said, Mecgar are OEM for many manufacturers so they make a very good magazine

I usually recommend using only S&W magazines, but the exception to that rule are the Mec-Gar magazines. Mec-Gar mags are high quality and usually just as reliable as S&W magazines. I have no way of knowing, but Mec-Gar may have been the S&W magazine manufacturer. I wish Mec-Gar would tool up and make 3913 and 39/39-2 mags, but so far they have shown no interest.

I wish the 39xx guns were still in production. But I guess that's a different topic.
