I have a 5906TSW. I saw this photo on page 358 of the S&W Catalogue 4th of a 639 on page 358.

Does anyone have wood grips on their 3 Gen guns?

Thanks
Frank

I got a woodie on my CS9D. Made by that guy from Turkey. Nice looking and great quality. I bought lnib from another Forum member.
Sorry- haven't been able to post pics since the photobucket bs.

That is a pic of a single-stack 639 with wood grips. This is a very different proposition from a 5906 with wood. The hogue ones add what feels like 80 feet to the circumference of the grip. The KSD ones are much closer to the size of factory grips at a much higher cost.

I bought KSD grips for one of my handguns and received unbelievable service from them. Ordered the evening of Black Friday, got 40% off and had them on the Monday 3 days later here in Canada at my home. Now thats darn great service and pricing as well. Yes I would go Wood grips to pretty every gun up and have a better hand feel as well.

I put a set of KSD grips on my CS45D, looked nice, but I took them off, I did not like the way they felt...

My 3913/14 single stack guns have Hogue Checkered wood grips..... since the early 90s....I like the tad bit of additional thickness ..... with no practical effect on Concealed Carry.

For me wood grips make a double stack grip too thick...........if you like those rubber grips..... you may like wood.

To me wood grips change the entire outward appearance of any handgun and with the right ones make that particular handgun look much nicer then whatever it was wearing before. I have two surgury scars on both wrists about 6" long from very severre Carpal Tunnel syndrome. I now find that wood is the only material I can actually feel as well in both hands. I was left with less then a 2lb grip in my left hand so I shoot double handed. Most things I pick up i have to watch to make sure I even have them in my hands properly. Almost no hand feel left at all as well.

Have a set wood KSD grips just a bit different than these. Mine have checkering but same Roper-esque ribbons. And they feel great. Give the 5906 some extra comfort and balance, I feel.

I put wood Hogue's one a couple of my 3rd Gen pistols. I took them off. For me, they were way to big, so I just went with factory arched ones. Single panel Hogue's are OK till you find original new grips.

KSD grips are nice. I really like my CS45 with them, but do not like them on my CS9. Way too much width, but better than the original ones.

I tried Hogue wood grips on a 6906 and a single stack 908, didn't care for the added thickness and sold both grips. I personally prefer the thinness of the factory Delrins on all of my S&W 3rd Gens.

I've been severely tempted by the KSD products. I've never seen them in person but they sure do look nice and from what you guys say here, most of them feel good too! That being said, I hesitate because I'm so happy with Hogue rubber on my 3rd Gen 45s. My accuracy took an immediate turn for the better when I switched to Hogue from OEM factory. But I sure do like the look of wood!

For me my shooting ability improved greatly with the new KSD grips on the handgun I put them on. The thickness is just right for me and my No feeling paws.

I like wood grips on any handgun better than plastic or rubber. Just love the look. They don't always feel as nice while shooting, but I'm usually willing to overlook that for the pretty wood grip look. These days there are so many great options for most bottom feeders and wheel guns. But it can get expensive trying to find those perfect wood grips! I've seen ones for sale that cost more than I paid for the gun!
