Wanted a Remington Model 592 since the 70's in high school (do the math). Finally ammo is again available and a friend inherited one he did not appreceiciate so he sold it to me for 300. Stock finish was damaged and the action had surface rust. Cleaned the action, refinished the stock and now she is a beaut. 39 grain bullet at 2400 fps hits harder than a .17 or .22 ma. Here she is.

I was working for a Remington distributor back in the early 70's. I could have bought one of those for distributor cost + 10%. Always kinda' regretted I didn't buy one, but money was very tight, & my wife had just bought me an Anschutz as a Christmas gift, so...........

at a gunshow a few weeks ago a guy had 3 boxes of Remington 5 mm ammo for $85 a box. I would suggest that anytime you find some ammo somewhere is to buy it while you can

The Centurian ammo was 19.95 at the last gun show here. It was more available the 22 mag and god knows more than .22 LR. I am not going to use the old Rem ammo I got with the gun.

My step-father has had one for as long as I can remember and shot it often before the ammo went sky high. He tried the new and old side by side. If you've ever shot one with the original ammo you find the new stuff weak.

According to the old Rem info their 38 gr bullet clocked at 2100 fps. The new stuff 2300 with the 30 grainer. I never shot any of the old but shot a heavy plastic half gallon jug filled with water the other day with the new. It did not just blow the jug open, it blew it in two and sent the halves 10 feet in opposite directions. The Original Rem ammo is better than 30 years old now, perhaps the aged powder has altered chemistry and caused higher pressures.

I don't know this cartridge very well. Can it be reloaded? I know how much money that saves me shooting my revolvers--LOTS.

No. It is Rems 10 year too late answer to Winchesters .22 mag rimfire. The 22mag works at about 23000 psi the 5 mil at 33000psi. Just never caught on. Until the 17 hmr took off and folks said what else can or has been done to soup up rimfires.

Plus I like odd or rare guns. Ruger .44 carbine, Howa 6.5x55, a Smith model 57 no dash .41 mag. And there is no better weapon on the planet than Vintage S&W Revolvers.

Yep lookED at that ammo there. 16.00 looked pretty good but shipping was 17.00 so 33.00 a box is helluva deal. Product "Cheaper than Dirt" shipping 'SKY HIGH".

500rds. (10 box) shipped to my house 181.18, wouldn't be worth ordering a single box. As far as CTD is concerned, they can dry up and blow away. Nothing they got I can't get elsewhere. Joe

I went to CTD, put 10 box in my cart, put in my zip to "estimate shipping" ($19.28 IIRC) and $181.18 was the total. I don't have a 5mm or I probably would put animosity aside and get a brick. Joe
