After shooting the 6.5 swede for decades I'm still waiting for something to tell prove to me the new 6's are that much better.
I have only shot in in the original Mausers chambered for it and have been impressed from the first shot!

The only 6.5mm I have is a mid 60s Flaggs custom 264 Win Mag! Douglas premium barrel 26" long. The muzzel would jump about a foot when fired from a bipod! So I had it Mag-na=ported in the mid 80s. Still shoots sub 1/2" Groups at 200 yards using 100 to 140 grain bullets. The Sierra 87s do about 3/4" @ 200 but they are going just under 4000fps!

I Thought about a Creedmoor 6 or 6.5, I'll pass.

I shoot a CG-63 with a receiver made by Carl Gustav in 1902. This rifle has iron sights only. Attached is a group that the rifle is capable of. I see no reason to buy anything else. JMHO

Was just thinking and wondering. The 6.5X55 has been around for almost 130 years. Do we think that any of present crop of 6.? will be around that long?

Probably not, because modern industry has to bring you something new every 10 years or so, whether you wanted it or not.

Another reason might be that the phased plasma rifle in the 40W range will have been perfected.

Some guys are still using flintlocks with black powder..........so don't count it out yet.

A 40W Phased Plasma Rifle may be beyond the reach of most of us.

I love the Remington Mohawks and found one in 308 for low dollars. Already had one in that caliber, another in 223, 2 in 6mm Remington and another in 350 Remington mag. Then, a new take off 6.5 Creedmoor bull barrel for a model 700 came my way for not much. Always wanted a thumb hole stock, so ordered one from Boyd's, did some more inletting in the barrel channel and made my only 6.5

I dearly want a classic 6.5 rifle. 6.5X55 would do a treat!
