I am looking to get a harris swiveling bi-pod for my new 15-22. Will the 6-9" be tall enough for the mag to clear the ground in a prone position or while shooting from a bench? I am a short guy (5'7") with a small build. I don't know the size but I recently shot with someones bi-pod and felt I was arching my back upward which was uncomfortable and which I assume decreased my accuracy in shot placement. Thoughts? Thank you!

No, you want the 9-13" if you plan to use 25-round magazines. If you limit yourself to the short 10-round magazines, you can use the shorter bipod.

I use the leapers 6"-12" bi-pod on my 15-22 and in the 6" position it clears the mag from shooting on a bench just fine, I'm not sure about shooting prone though. I'm roughly your height and build. I picked up the 6"-12" over the 6"-9" just because it was only a couple dollars more and I figured it wouldn't hurt to have the extra height.

I'm also using the 25 round mags.

If you have any of the short 10s get the shortest bipod. Otherwise as you have seen you will get some back pain if you have to shoot prone with a 9-13" bipod. On a bench at the shooting range it does not matter that much.

Just to be clear, as I too am in the market for a bipod. I ONLY shoot from the bench. Will a 6-9 be tall enough to clear the 25 round mags? I shoot at both an indoor and outdoor range but never prone always sitting at a bench?

NO. You need 9-13" for the 25 Round mags.

See post number two. The question has already been answered. :)

I have no problem at all shooting from a bench with a 25 round mag with my 6"-12" bi-pod in the lowest (6") position. The mag clears the table for me just fine.

So I say yes yous should be fine with a 6"-9" bi-pod.

Gotta love the conflicting answers to this one. I may get both and return the one I don't need. Gonna get the Harris swiveling with the leg notches. Any recommendations for a good rail adapter?

I guess depending on what mount everyone is using could be the difference in experience. Harris bi-pods are some of the best you can get but for what I'm using my bi-pod for I opted for the $35 leapers 6"-12" since I'm only using my 15-22 at the range. I haven't had any problems with the leapers bi-pod with the 25 round mags at all and it doesn't need an adapter.

the UTG 9-11" is perfect for prone with a 30 rounder... the 6-9 only has about a half inch of lift when level... couldn't hit the upper targets @ 75 yrds lol...

you can see on the range pic how there is n downward movement available with the 6-9" (that pic was at 9" BTW)

I would say it also depends on how close to the muzzle you have the bi-pod mounted. Mine's not nearly as far towards the muzzle as the 1 you have pictured there on a 20" barrel.
