Are the 60-7's that are not marked ladysmith something that I should buy if I have the chance? What is a good price for one in nice condition (no box)?

I am a j-frame fan I carry a 640 pro .357 and have a 640 in .38 as well. Just wondering if the 60-7 is worth $450 that is for sale in my area.

Thanks

The 60-7 is arguably among the best of the pre-magnum Model 60s, so if it is in good mechanical shape and looks good (with only minor dings and scuffs) then $450 sounds fair. I have seen comparable Model 60s and 36s in my local market for about the same price or more ($495 up to $525 -- but not sure how firm the Sellers were).

Yes, lots of them. They were the product code 102302. The LS version was a 102324.

$450 is a good price. The -7 was made in the 1991 to 1994 time frame, give or take. About 5 years, not a super long production run. In my view, one of the best era's for S&W revolvers.

Just picked one up. Like new $375

If that gun is as good as it looks, you were really lucky. The OP is also doing well to get a nice M-60-7 for $450.

But he hesitated and wondered about the price. Someone has likely bought it while he tarried.

I think a M-60-7 ought to be one's first and usual snub .38.

Agree! This model has the wider front sight and it makes a world of difference. I have both a 60-7 and a 60-3, and I much prefer the 60-7.

OP, $450 is a very fair price for a 60-7.

The 60-7 is the best of the Chiefs Specials. I was just shooting mine this afternoon, along with my 60ND. The sights on the -7 are better. My -7, no box but good condition, cost me around $375 last year. It took me a while to find one, it took the place of a 36-7 I regretted trading away. The last 60-7 I saw for sale they were asking $495. I'd say $450 is a fair price.
