I have the opportunity to pick up a 610-2 in excellent condition.

6.5", non fluted, pre lock but does have the MIM hammer and trigger, frame mounted firing pin. Does not have original box.

$800

With the reintroduction of current 610's have the originals lost value?

I do stock 10mm ammo and have autos. I'm looking at this 610 as part investment opportunity and part fun range gun.

Your thoughts?

For $800 out the door, yes, if it’s as nice as
you’re trying to describe.

Has all that I like:
6-1/2bbl, non fluted,
pre lock,
MIM hammer and trigger,
frame mounted firing pin.
No original box is an annoying.

The best to you and your endeavors.

Were I in the market, I'd probably buy it. FWIW, I've now owned a S&W or two with MIM lockwork and frame mounted firing pin. These much maligned features have given no trouble whatsoever. In fact, the MIM guns have smoother double actions than some of my pre MIM S&Ws, and unlike some of my pre MIM examples, time up solidly, etc...

I’d be all over that, but I’m a 610aholic. That is a fantastic price even with no box or tools. I’d say any pre-lock 610 under $1K is a bargain.

Anyone who tells you it’s not going to increase in value “because they’re making them again” is a fool.
