I have a chance to buy a mint in the box just as it came Mod 610 Lew Horton 10mm 3" bbl unfluted one of 300 made. I am not too familar with the gun and I have not seen it but a friend of mine which I trust 100% says it's mint. What is a good price for these? Tell me what you know about these and your thoughts on this bad or good. Thanks!

Just make sure it is a LH, prices are high, so I don't look too much at them. Hopefully you will get it very reasonable - so keep us posted.

If it has a 3 inch barrel and unfluted cylinder, it is without doubt one of the run for Lew Horton. BTW, IMO the value is tied to the feature set, not the distributor who ordered it, however Lew Horton seems to have a knack for selecting features that stand the test of time.

As for value, I would estimate it's a 1200 to 1500 dollar gun if auctioned on Gunbroker, however I'll confess to really really wanting one. Unfortunatly, I don't have that kind of scratch so I'll just have to hope to get lucky one day and find one that's been pawned or sold locally.

A favorite of mine.

I have opened up the cylinders on both of my 610s and my 310NG so that they will all accept 10MM Magnum ammunition as well as 10MM and 40S&W.

Yes I said 10MM Magnum.

It makes these very versatile revolvers.

I bought a 610 4" 6 weeks ago and it quickly rose to near the top of my favorites list. Great hand feel, well made, good caliber. I'd buy the LH 3" without hesitation.

I opened my 610 no dash up to 10mm magnum as well. It is real fun to shoot

I have never heard of a "10mm Magnum". Is it easy to get the cylinder done? Who makes brass/cartridges in this caliber? Very interested in this mod. I have a 4" 610, and a 310 NG.

I'd look at the chamber pressures developed by a 10mm Mag round versus what the 610 is rated for. Plenty of guns will handle a few (or few hundred) over-pressure rounds, but they cumulatively weaken the frame and cylinder and eventually the fatigue and stress cracking can destroy an otherwise great revolver. I'm not saying this is the case for a 10mm Mag in a 610, just that I'd verify first.

Do you guy's with the 10mm mag know what kind of preformance you are getting with the magnum round?

I had mine done by Clements it was about $100 and a couple months wait. The brass is available from starline. I don't push my loads to much. I can get the 180gr xtp's going around 1500 fps. I could push harder but then I would worry about longevity though I don't shoot any of my guns enough to wear them out. You can get 41mag performance out of it with moon clips just dont have the heavy bullets available. I like it cause it is different more than anything.

Did you buy the gun, or are you going to? If not, maybe you can share your seller's contact info!!!

Getting 170/180 grain JHPs moving at 1500+ is easy for this cartridge.

I opened up the chambers in our shop. We just used a 10MM finishing reamer and went in to 10MM Magnum depth with it. Since we are head spacing on the moon clip and not the case mouth this is a pretty simple job.

Pressure is not an issue. This is not like old Elmer Keith hot rodding the 44 Special in his old revolvers. That was serious over pressure for it's day. 10MM Magnum only develops about 7% more pressure than the 10MM Auto cartridge. Most +P loadings do more than that.
