What FUN!!!!

Had ICORE match Saturday & used trusty 4" 617 10 shot. I like the steel targets for the music but I know the cardboard actually shows just where you hit;

Had Steel Challenge Sunday. Started with a bottom stuffer but some feeding glitch on the first 2 targets made me glad I brought a REAL gun to the match. I really do prefer revolvers.

The joy and satisfaction of a good stage average time seems pretty much the same as center fire scores.

No matter have fast I think I'm going, it always turns out it's better to remember I'm not a competitor but rather a participant....

The demands of each match are enough different and demanding in their own way. Sequential days allow seeing how each reinforces the shooting skills of the other.

Can you tell us what equiptment you used ? ( holster, speed loaders,etc ) .
Thanks

Leather: local leather smith wide belt & N frame holster; isn't too large for the 617 to get lost in; the speed loaders advertised on a thread here somewhere, the black injected plastic ones with the spring around the circumference. Now used about 18 months they are inspired and worth the purchase. Got the 100 round loading black and FIVE speed loaders; perhaps could have done as well with less.

I use a belt pouch for the loaders but someday will have the $ for the molded-version as they will actually be more movement-efficient in reloads. There's few stages where 10-shot cylinder for ICORE is any advantage as the stage writers strive to remain '6-8 shot neutral'.

I do not do 'speed draws'.

Use the same leather gear for the Steel Challenge, but with gun at low port, as bad shoulder mechanics from old injury limitation. Besides the few seconds isn't really going to make my stage time sparkle anyway.

Over the past couple years I have managed to decrease my average stage time by about 50% .....but still definitely still in the geezer class.

The really fast finishers all have special high $ rigs for making their draw easier/smoother/faster.

Not a lot of 22 ICORE shooters in my area. Yet.

I think ICORE 22 will perk up as time passes.
We have 2 each 617's and a 17, and Steve just picked up a SP101 in a 22. So we have 4 rimfire shooters so far.
