I have a 617 6" 10 shot,at 52 my eyes don't work as good as they used to. I need a red dot or halo with crosshairs because I see a slight halo around a dot.Does anyone have a suggestion(I can only spend around$100.)I looked at midway USA and liked the bushnell trophy red dot with the four different reticals and also the tasco halo with four different reticals would value any help someone could give me

I have had excellent results with a half dozen Simmons Red Dot sights with Weaver style rails on S&W revolvers. Here is my 625-6 (5" barrel with the Simmons 3omm Red Dot).

I have a Red Dot on my 617 (10 shot) but don't yet have a picture of it.

Overstock.com is selling the Simmons at a great price for a limited time:

This includes Weaver Rings. You absolutely cannot beat that price.

Wow, that Simmons looks pretty nice--a 4 or 8 MOA dot, Crosshair or Diamond reticles. Hmm...I may have to pick up one or two of those...

I have quite a bit of astigmatism and find that different red dot sights provide varying amount of the halo you describe. In my expereince the 30mm Ultra Dot and the old Tasco ProPoint BG (big dot) had the least amount of halo. The Docter sight also is very good. The Tasco was the only one that would meed your budget requirements.

Red Dot Sights

I much prefer the red dot sights. I have three C-Mores and two of the inexpensive, large diameter Tasco sights and like them all. I tried a Bushnell Holosight one time, and didn't like it. The red dot sights are sure great for us old guys with aging eyes!

FLASH! I sure have to "eat" this comment. I just got a new catalog from Natchez Shooting Supplies and they have these for $26.99. A terrific price has gone to even a BETTER price. I bought several of these (six or eight as I have lost count) at nearly twice the price and I STILL have a smile on my face. These are worth CONSIDERABLY more than they cost. This price won't last long, so a 'word to the wise'...

Looks like they're normally $60-something and are currently out of stock at Natchez. I've never really liked the ones with a built-in mounts, like this one, listed for $26.99, also out-of-stock.
