I just aquired a 624 that has been shoot but I don't think it was allot. Anyhow the Cylinder slides back and forth between the forcing cone and flash shield ( not sure that is correct terminology ). Is it possible that the ejector star is not tight causing this, or did I buy a clapped out junker?

Thanks

tighten the ejector rod if it's loose. sounds like excessive endshake, a common problem, not to difficult to fix.

that "sliding description" sounds a little unusual, you may want to let a gunsmith look at it. excessive endshake is corrected by using endshake bearings (little washers) available from brownells, or stretching the crane as s&w does it. all of this information can be found in the s&w shop manual by kuhnhausen. a worthwhile investment.
