I've been listening to owners of these guns rave about them for years, and this one recently came up at a local auction. There didn't seem to be a lot of interest, it stalled at $600, so I tossed out $610 and took it home.

5" full lug, rollmarked Model of 1988. The rollmarkings would seem to indicate early production, but the Patridge sight, lopsided cylinder release, and BEA serial prefix point to 1989.

I like the wood Hogues, and prefer the Patridge blade, but am too much a traditionalist to warm up to that cyl. release. Anybody want to swap a standard one for it?

Very nice. I prefer the old style cylinder release too, but in use I really can't tell the difference!

It looks like yours has a standard front sight, mine has a very tall front sight and a short rear sight. I don't know why they did not put standard sights at each end.

Congrats on a nice gun at a good price. My latest 625 was 5" -6 in ACP. Haven't had time to shoot much but looks to be a good one. Post a range report when you can.
My release is same as yours and only stainless spare I have is oversize Hogue IIRC.

I have am early production 625-2 with the ramp front sight and old style cylinder release. The gun is a great shooter. Enjoy it.

Great fun! Great price!

I've bought, sold or traded several 625 -2s and -3s over the years and regretted it. Keeping one - 2, 3" -3 and 625-6.

Me too. BDC serial prefix. I also have a 625-3 (3") with the serial prefix of BEN with the old style cylinder release.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

My 4" 625-2 is a laser engraved model of 1989 with a ramp front sight and old style cylinder release and has a SN prefix of BEC. I bought this last year to replace one I owned several years ago and foolishly sold. What an enjoyable revolver to shoot. Great trigger and very accurate. I like it so much I've considered looking for a 5" which I think is the perfect length for this model.

Very nice! My LGS has a 686-6 I'm waiting for them to drop to $600 and then I'll go look at it

Model of 1988

Congratulations. Sounds like you got it
for a great Price. Pretty Neat!

Thanks for the Picture. It appears to be
45ACP caliber, at first I thought you were
talking about a 45Colt.

Please give us a Range Report when you
shoot it.

"N" frames forever.
