I need some help here, as I've searched the internet for two days without much luck. I intend to replace the rear adjustable sight on my 627 snubbie with a C&S Extreme Duty Sight (the one that comes on the Nightguards). My research shows that this will change my POI by about 5" low at ~10 with the factory front sight, which is .230" tall. I "think" that if I got a replacement sight ~.205 tall, this would correct it, but I can't find a suitable replacement anywhere.

I have no problem filing/milling down the front sight to the correct height and then refinishing it, but I would really like to have a factory replacement sight for if/when I want to put the gun back to spec with the adjustable rear/factory front.

Which leads me to my question: Does anyone know how I can order the factory dovetail red ramp front sight?

You start by contacting the factory! 800-331-0852 for S&W Customer Service. You aren't going to find a sight just .010" lower though.

I'm just guessing that the front comes from Novaks. I would wait till I had the rear installed and get a exact POA/POI reading with the ammo I intended to use. Then they should be able to come up with the right height for you.

That is a lot of trouble to go to just to change the rear sight on a snub. Unless you just want that particular sight. Or you will be carrying it in really rugged conditions. I carried Smith adjustable sights for a long time and found them very durable, and if somehow dented up, easy to change to a new blade. I'm not being critical, you understand, just do not understand the motivation.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I appreciate it. I'll give customer service a call and see what they can tell me. It sure does look like I could fit a Novak sight in there when I compare it to my 1911s. If I had spare around I would see if I could fit it.

You're right, Nightowl, that it is a good bit of trouble for not much gain. My driving motivation is that I carry it IWB and find that the adjustable sights are a bit sharp for my liking. I have never been a fan of adjustable rear sights, and this is actually the only handgun I have that has them.

I can see that they might be a little sharp on the old skin:D.
