627-5 performance center

Hey guys,

Was stumbling around Gander Mountain today and saw a used 627-5 performance center 5 inch barrell.

Nice shape, but no box, empty shell or moon clips included in the $830 price tag. Firearm only. They had a 686 there also and the difference of feel between the 2 was unbeleiveable!

Any input on price? It seems a little steep without all the goodies with it, but man it felt good!

Serial # is BCF7253 627-5. There is also a letter "U" stamped in the extracter rod housing. Any ideas on that?

There was also some strange hyroglyphic looking markings on the barrell. Forgot to mention that earlier.

The 627 is especially well suited to shooting steel plates and Icore matches. I had a 627-5 a few years ago that I used for shooting static steel plates. For some reason I decided to switch to a 1911 in 9mm for shooting steel, and since there were only 2 local Icore matches anually, I decided to sell the 627. I have missed that gun ever since. Fortunately one of the local clubs has since started shooting Icore on a monthly basis, so I decided to replace the 627. Used models are difficult to find, and my local dealer could get me a new one for $1000 plus $60 tax. Fortunately I stumbled on one over on Gunbroker that only had two shots run through it, but it did not include the aluminum PC case. We reached a deal for $850. In my mind I was happy to have saved $200 bucks over the cost of a new gun. The case was of no real value to me since I carry my guns back and forth in my range bag. I believe you only get 2 or 3 moonclips with a new gun, which is not enough to use for competition, so I ordered 100 from Ranch products. Now I'm ready to get out and shoot some Icore until the local steel league starts in March.

In my opinion (which is worth exactly what you are paying for it) $830 is not a bad price, provided the gun is in good shape. You might even be able to pick it up for $800. It never hurts to make an offer. The only question is the hyroglyphics on the barrel. I'm not sure what you mean. The only markings on my barrel are the "Performance center" and the ".357 mag - 8 times" on either side of the barrel. Both are factory markings.

Seabee, the markings on the barrel are probably proof marks.
German or belgian, you will also find them on the cylinder and the frame.

Look closely.

$800. range for one of these is a good deal.
The P.C. guns have all forged parts and are usually fantastic shooters.

Oops ,I just read that the -5 engineering change has the lock.
I'd knock $100, or so off because of that.

Go and lay it away tomorrow.

$800 to $900 for a clean one is a good deal! The lock does not make any difference in the price. $900 with all the goodies is ok too.

I paid $775 for mine a couple of years ago (PC pistol rug, papers, both grips, and some moon clips). Make an offer and take that baby home!

If you like the feel of that 627 GRAB IT NOW!!!

My 627V8 PC is a spectacular steel plate gun, and offers far more performance than I am otherwise capable of demonstrating.

Get a 100 moon clips (although you don't need them to shoot/extract due to special cylinder design) and have a real festival.

Mine shoots everything from 127 RNFP thru 148 WC and 158 SWC with astounding accuracy. It digests 357 mag loads with no discomfort.

If you are a shooter of revolvers, do yourself a favor and do not let this go by.

I gave more for mine 3 years ago, and will not be selling it any time soon.

$830 appears to e a reasonable price for a nice used 627PC. I would not part with mine for anything less. I love my old 586 but for most pistol games the extra 2 shots of the 627 do come in handy.

I just sold my 627 PC a year ago for $900, so $830 dosen't sound bad.

It's a great gun....super accurate & fun to shoot. I wish I hadn't sold

mine, and would love to get another one. I'd grab it!

Hi guys,

I am Old seabees deviant offspring.....he let me post this under his name until i got registered. And now i am. Sorry for any confusion.

I bought the 627 today, darn near $900 out the door including a cleaning kit. Tommorrow dad and i are going to load as many rounds as we can in the morning, then he, i and MY deviant offspring are headed to the hills to fling some lead around. Cant wait!

Thanks for all the advice. I have alot to learn about all this stuff, especially loading. Luckily for me i have Old seabee and this forum to draw from.
