Just took delivery of a new 627 Pro, a 4". What a sweet gun. The fit and finish is perfect. The balance point is just forward of my middle (driving) finger on the grip, so it balances well yet can be brought down on target. The trigger pull is light and linear in both single and double action, maybe as good as my R8 Performance Center gun. This gun is a beast, weighing in at about 3lbs loaded, over 5oz more than my 5" R8 (which also has Picatinny rails top and bottom!). She should shoot soft. The weight feels comfortable to me, steadying, kind of like a better engineered, better balanced Ruger GP100 (the gun it replaced). Due to its' weight this isn't a gun for a small person. I wasn't crazy about the sights (front blade painted red, rear is u-shaped cut out of bare metal), so I order some tritium night sights from Meprolight, front and rear, which should arrive in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to shoot her.

I got mine in January and it is a great gun. I'm not a very good shot with pistols, but the first time I took mine to the range it seemed my skills improved 100%. That told me 1) the gun is pretty accurate, and 2) those sights aren't bad at all. I shot it again last weekend, and my first 8 rounds had two touching 1/2" directly above my aim point and the next six touching about 2" above my aim point. As I said, I'm not very good with pistols, but for me that was some great shooting. I didn't think I'd like that red ramp either, but I do. Enjoy your new gun.

mine is my favorite gun of all time. it's got a great trigger and you can beat 8 round capacity in a revolver, and it's accurate as hell. Enjoy, I know you will.

Thanks. I agree, the stock sights look fine for target shooting. I guess a combination of middle-aged eyesight and that I'm using it for a nightstand gun made me opt for the tritium sights. Still waiting for a chance to shoot her! I put an Aimpoint on the R8. It's a lot more accurate than I am and I hope for similar performance out of the 627.

I love my 627. I am a police officer and started carrying it as my primary duty gun 2 1/2 years ago. I sent it back to the factory and had a bright polish job done to it. I absolutely love it. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I love mine.

I grabbed my 627 Pro new 5/08. It quickly displaced my beloved 625JM from my 'most favored' status. It now shares that post with the 2 5/8" PC627 UDR (below). Fortunately, it shares the spring loaded 'Classic/DX' style .25" height front sight with the 625JM. I was able to try several front sights before settling on the orange HiViz as most appropriate for my 'mature' eyes. I also tried various hand grips - Ahrends fit great - but Jerry Miculek grips had 'grown' on me over the years. They make for a fast and non-fidgety grab.

The 5starfirearms.com speedloader and loading baseplate are very good accessories to have, too - as are more moonclips (Ranch Products) and the 8x 627 style nutdriver de-mooner (Brownell's, etc). My .357 Magnum revolvers have never launched a 'real' Magnum load, except under test at S&W. I do keep +P 158gr LHPSWCs moonclipped for 'emergency' home defender use. My 627 Pro's usual diet is a 125gr JHP over4.5 gr Titegroup in a Magnum case - with Federal SP primers - makes 900fps. It has low effort Wolff hammer and rebound springs, yielding a quite decent DA trigger, while marrying it to Federal primed homebrews and Remington R38S12 (My home defender ammo.) for no ftf's. Oddly, my PC627 UDR is as good or better, DA trigger wise, and 100% dependable with Winchester primed ammo, too. They are PC Shop products... the 627 Pro is not.

Still - what a great firearm! My 627 Pro is still a keeper, over four years later.

Well, I struck out on the Tritium sights. Spoke to Meprolite and they don't make a night sight for the 627 Pro. Does anyone know who does?

Not a fan of tritium night sights. My 60 Pro, 632 Pro, and Governor each came with them on front - the 632 Pro front and rear. I find HiViz sights more useful in low light, although the 2 5/8" PC627's huge orange blade insert seems almost iridescent in low light, too. In any form of light, as low as a nearly darkened bedroom, tritium night sights don't seem bright enough to see - at least with my 'mature' eyes. If it is dark enough to see them - I can't tell what I am aiming at, anyway! The HiViz is both a great plinking sight and a useful low light sight. Your spring-loaded front sight mount needs a 'Classic/DX'-style HiViz .250" tall (Brownell's, etc - see my 627 Pro pictured above.).
