Hello
I have a chance at 629-1 3” non lew Horton with factory box.
It would come with Pachmayr grip, which he said was factory grip?
The box does have RB marked for grips.
It’s been fired but in really nice condition. Say 95%
Buying it to shoot not collect!

What would be a decent price to buy it?
Thanks!
Joe

I just bought a 629-2 3” Classic hunter with box and all the goodies for $1150. Its condition is what you describe. I bought mine to carry and shoot. I looked for a long time and considered mine a real bargain, they seem to go as high as $1500 on a regular basis

You didn't mention the asking price...but, I would think that anything $1500 or less would be a buy! I never thought much of the 3 inch 629 until I bought one. Who knows why, except I didn't have one! Anyway, it's a really fun gun to shoot, not any worse than other barrel lengths with full magnums, but really fun with a reduced load!!
Buy it, you'll be sorry if you don't!!

I bought a 629-1 with a 3" bbl about ten years ago. It became my "everglades" carry gun. It is accurate and shoots full power magnums to the same point it shoots my 1000 fps hand loads out to about 25yds. I would not consider this 3" bbl to be a 100yd pistol but I find it fun to shoot and very accurate. Enjoy yours.

All 3” 629-1 came with wood combats. NIB complete could fetch $2k; ANIB $1500 to $1800. As described, I’d guesstimate $1300 to $1500. The missing combats fetch $250-$300+
If you can grab it for $1300 or less, you will have done good.

Here’re my two 3” LH 629s.

At one time I had one that came through Lew Horton Dustributing and another after they became a standard item through regular channels. Couldn’t tell the difference between them. As you’re looking for a shooter get it as cheap as you can. I would offer $1150-$1200 otd, good luck!

OP, you say you want one to shoot. That means you’ll probably want a holster. Check out the DeSantis belt scabbard. I just picked one up from Midway. $59 IIRCC. There’s not a ton of options for the 3” models.

Same. I found one in excellent condition 10yrs ago at a buy now offer. So I did. Next thing I knew I had a Dillion 650 to crank out easy-to-shoot ammo. Then .44 addiction began. Proceed with caution!

Grips NOT original!

Hey Joe...CH4 is CORRECT...the 629-1 3" revolvers CAME with goncalo alves wood combat grips with the S&W medallions...SO either the seller just does not know this OR he is NOT telling you the truth...Roger
