629-1 front sight

I have two 629-1 revolvers both have red ramp front sights,
both shoot low by a bunch I need to make a taller front sight.
Is the original sight pinned or a part of the barrel?

First try adjusting the rear sight. If that fails, going to a taller front will make it shoot even lower.
Front sight is pinned.

If I'm not mistaken, the front sight needs to be lowered to make the gun shoot higher.

Have you tried raising the rear sight?

High or low the same question as krehmkej asked, have you tried adjusting the rear sight? The odds of two guns having front sights too short aren't good. The usual way, if the rear sight runs out of elevation adjustment before it will zero, is to change the rear sight blade. This is the reason there are several different height blades available.

There is another possibility. You didn't mention what you are shooting in the guns. With 275-300 grain bullets the gun will shoot significantly higher than with standard 240 grain bullets. Likewise, if you are using 200 grain or less it would shoot high. Either extremecould make so much difference that you will run out of adjustment.
