Hey guys, wondering if this seems like a good buy if I can get them down to $900.

They must be referencing their prices from GunBroker. There's a lot of that going around now. Out of a shop, that ought to be an $800 gun.

A flawless 629-1 with the original box should go for $800ish. It's the least desirable of the pre-lock 629's.

The long barrel makes it even harder to move at that price. The 4" and 6" barrels sell better.

Any more and they are looking for a sucker that doesn't know the difference between the generations of 629's and what they tend to fetch in $.

629-1 Classic Hunter

Here's my 629-1 Classic hunter, unfluted barrel, original equipment Hogue grips. The Standard Catalog of S&W says that 5,000 were made in 1988. The product code is 103616.
I have the original box, etc. I would not sell it for $999.00, it's too sweet.

(Quick Note:I could not be in the hobby of collecting or the gun business without The Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson, by Supica, Nahas)
