629-1 Question

Not sure if this is the right forum, apologies if its not (Im sure someone will tell me )

I have a 629-1, I see that 29-1's are considered rare. Are the 629-1's rare also?

In my limited knowledge, I understand that the Model 629-1 equates to the model 29-2. I don't think it's a rare bird. Especially if the barrel is six-inch or more. Lew Horton did distribute some M629's with three-inch barrels.

The 29-1 was an engineering change that was only made during 1962, less than one year. The 629-1 on the other hand was made from 1982 to 1988 so the answer is that its not rare but still a desirable model.
