Dear friends
Sorry maybe it's not the right sector of the forum to tell this little story, and I'm not so good in your language. So excuse me and show me where it is better to publish it.
I was reminded of something that happened to me about 30 years ago.
Way back in 1990 I opened a gunshop and called it shoot off. Close to an important barracks here in the city of Rome.
Inside the barraks there was also an indoor shooting range with the firing lines at 50 yards
At that time I carried and used a 629 with a 3 inch barrel, and shot daily, always double action with fully loaded 240 grain bullets.
One day, the director and instructor of the shooting range calls me.
And he invites me to go shoot in his range.
Of course I accept curious and happy, having only my 44 Magnum 3 inch with me I take a box of 50 rounds of Federal 240 soft point, and I went.
There the instructor/ director was waiting for me.
He showed me everything, and I must say that the shooting range built two years earlier was very beautiful
When it's time to go shoot he takes out a Marlin 444 and shows me the line of fire at 50 yards.
To be a gentleman he tells me that I can choose the targets, I used every day a standard IPSC cardboard target with the head and body divided into the three sectors A, B, and C and I put that
At that moment I understand and decide that I will only fire 6 shots.
Then I said:
I start, have and will fire only six rounds, are 240 grains, soft point full load
The Federal ammo box was closed in the shooting bag
I fired my six shoots in double-action in 7/8 seconds and stepped aside
He arrived and aimed with the Marlin and fired, he shot every 15/20 seconds, after a couple of minutes he had fired 6 shots.
We went to get targets, I walked in silence, he and his staff said wonders of the his Marlin. Take the targets and…
In an instant I was in heaven, 3 A's and 3 B's, grouped about 20 inches, 1 head and 5 inside body. I only said:
good the Federal cartridges...
His target was little better than mine, a little more grouped, but without the A in the center of the head
They bragged about the nice group of holes in the body, I nodded silently.
He was the winner, but was it him?
He didn't invite me again.

Love the story! I enjoy Marlins in handgun and 45-70 cartridges. A 444 Marlin at 50 yards shood be grouping less than 2" in rapid fire!

I have a 2 5/8" 629-10 and I'm nowhere near as accurate as you.

Taking so long to aim every shot with a rifle, he should have had a very small group at only 50 yards. Your shooting skill is much better. A short barrel revolver is not only for close shots, if you know how to use it.
