Found a 629-3 classic 6.5 inch with box. The box says PM grips are they the S&W Pachmyers? Looks like a nice gun. Is $720 too high a price?

720 is a smoking deal, if it checks out.
Don’t pass it up!
I’ve asked that same question about the PM stocks without a definitive answer
All I can tell you is I bought this beautiful 5” dash three used maybe 10 years ago and it was wearing combats but had an old set of pachs in the box. They had been there long enough to leave an impression of the checkering in the cardboard. I think officially it meant polymer but who knows. You’re probably going to enjoy it if you get it, the -3’s are my favorite.

Those factory finger groove rubber stocks with sw metal grip medallions are not very commonly encountered.
Have a pair that came on a 629-3 and a pair that came on a 29-5, both are 5" classics.

Picked it up this morning. I believe the PM under stocks is PachMayer. Because these are Smith & Wesson PachMayer stocks much like the Browning Hi Power PachMayer stocks for the Practical and Silver Chrome Hi Powers.

I’m used to ST, RB, SB etc for Square Target, Round Butt and Square Butt codes.

Forgive the shadows in the pictures I think the gun looks better than the pictures.

I looked at the butt of the grips and it's faint but they do say Hogue. Thanks for the info.

As Engine49guy posted above, those Hogue logo grips are scarce and desirable.

They were only seen on a few N frames before disappearing. I had a 629 and 625 shod with them at one time, and feel that the medallion really adds to the appeal.

Very nice grab! I'd have been all over that at that price, need or not. The chamfered front of the cylinder is a cool touch as well. Should be fun and thanks for sharing!

As I previously stated, even with incorrect stocks, $720 is a great price for a Model 629-3 Classic. You did great!

Well, I'm a bit confused on this one. The Spec Ord code indicates either a 1990 or 2000 build, neither one corresponds with a 629-3. The 629-3 was introduced in 1991 and lasted until 1993 with the start of the -4 version. The serial numbers of the 1993 started with B at the time and the Cs were shipping in 2000. I couldn't find any Ts, after a quick check in the Catalogue. The grips, and I think they are original, would point to the earlier -3s.

Yep, those Hogue grips with the metal decal are hard to find! But, that is a nice gun you can shoot to your hearts content and you got a great price. I would have bought it too!
