Local seller listing a 629-4 Mountain Gun on supposedly excellent condition, but his listing price seems out of line (to me anyhow). What would a fair/decent price to offer. No box/docs, just the gun with Hogue rubbers.

These have really gotten high. I am a tough sell and even I just paid $875 for one. The -4 Mountain Guns are the most desirable stainless .44 N frame out there in my opinion with only the no dash being a contender.

One was listed on gunbroker last week in excellent condition with box with a buy-it-now for $750. I was in the market for one and bought it right away.

However, based on what Ive seen scanning gun broker daily for the last couple months it would have easily sold for $1k. The seller listed it as a "4 inch 629" with a couple crappy pictures. I had done my homework and knew the subtle clues to look for that indicated it was a dash-4 mountain gun. If the seller had taken more care to list and describe it correctly with a few pictures that better indicated the condition it could have auctioned for well over $1k imo.

Great gun. But I don't think these are the most desirable 44 N frame. Have you seen the 3 inch Lew hortons lately. They don't sell for less than a Grand ever.

But the 4 inch MG is an absolute fine revolver.

On gun broker any 629-4 in excellent condition with box can go for a grand. Sometimes they go for decent prices $6-800 but not too often, and especially not one of the non-standard models. Just a sign of the times I figure.

Sounds like the seller might be in line with his price then, but I can't bring myself to drop that kinda' coin on a gun I know I'll never carry.
