629-4 part install

Went to the Armorer’s school in 87. Know my way around them some still but don’t do it much.

My buddies 629-4 wasn’t locking up and I said I’ll take a look at it. Figured out the problem but don’t remember seeing this piece in 87.

Which pic is the correct placement? What is this part for. Thanks!

Picture 1 is correct. The extended end of the hand pivot engages the slot when the trigger assembly is installed. This bolt lock then rises with the trigger pull and prevents the bolt from unlocking when the trigger is pulled. Part of the enhancement package that began with -2E.

You will notice that the hand pin is longer to move that part in place. If you replace the hand, be sure to get one with the longer pin that extends through the trigger to engage it.

New bolt, new bolt plunger. Stripped her down , just left the cylinder stop in. Was fun breaking one down again. Forgot how hard installing the recoil slide was with a screwdriver. Need that tool they make ��

Use a small phillips head screwdriver with one of the slots at the top. That will put one of the other slots at the bottom, to go over the pin.

I finally broke down and bought a small cheap screw driver, heated it up put the double bend in it and hit it with a grinder for installing trigger return springs. Having already lost enough springs. But, then I managed to thoughtlessly send a bolt spring and plunger off into parts unknown the other day when installing a lock plug. Those make finding a recoil slide spring look easy.
