Just picked one up and it's mint.

I understand it's been called the "Light Hunter"
1 of 500 in the first run with 6" barrels.

Later variations with 7.5" barrel were called the "Manum Hunter Plus" How many of these were produced? Also for RSR.

Other questions about the 6"

What were the original grips? Did it ship with multiple grips?
What factory box/case did it come with?
Paperwork and any other accessories it came with?
Your estimated value in mint condition?
Anyone seen or have copy's of flyers or RSR advertisements?

Updated with pics. Put some Altamont's on it.

I did a search of the forum and found this. Fellow member mokuloa, Rex Halfpenny, had posted it. You can try reaching out to him, he should be able to answer some of the questions you asked. I would try and answer your questions but I might be guessing. I’ve never owned one. There is some info in the S&W 4th edition book but nothing to help with your questions.

More pics. I've always wanted one of these and lucked out getting a great winning bid price on that online auction site. My intent was for it to replace my 6.5" 629-4 Classic as my main shooter/range gun and possibly some day deer and antelope. Problem is this is so mint! And only one of 500. I will not be shooting it. Going to buy a new PC 629.

It will take its place in my safe along side my other collectors.

You do have a nice six shooter for sure. Go ahead and shoot it. An hour on the cleaning bench and it'll look brand new again. You don't know what you're missing out on. My 629-4 Master Hunter Scope Only gun is one of 250 and if I hadn't shot it, would have never known what a sweeet shooter it is.

Sage advice Sir. Will consider.

Sweet revolver. Was it also made for RSR? Have a RSR serial number?

Thanks

A good deer getter. And coyote. I've had a Light Hunter like yours since the late '90s. It probably has never had any sort of optics on it. If it did, they went away quickly, because it shoots so well with the iron sights.

Picked up a Magnum Hunter Plus several years back, thinking it would be even better for iron sight use, but the Light Hunter has a better trigger pull.
