I got 629-4 (6 1/2" including the power port) last year and shot it today alongside my 629-5 rescued truck gun (5") for comparison. I'd shot them separately before but not together.

The ported revolver is 5 1/2 ounces heavier but the difference in felt recoil and muzzle rise was a surprise. The 5" points more naturally because the barrel is shorter but they're both pretty cool to own.

Now maybe a snubbie?

I have an 8 3/8" 629 and a 3" 629. No ports. With the same loads, I can shoot the long one all day (easily 100 rounds), the short one, maybe 12 rounds. Lots of muzzle flip. Brutal on the old thumb.
