629-5 Price check, any gotchas?

Found a ported 6"'ish 629-5 for $550.

Looks to be in pretty good shape. Says 629 Classic on one side of the barrel. DA trigger is like butter. In full lockup the cylinder does not move front to back, side to side is barely perceptable. Cylinder gap looks fine.

No box or paperwork. No lock.

Any gotchas I should know about?

Not a fan of the porting but if $550 is a good/great deal I'll live with it. Thoughts?

I have a 6" S&W 629-5, half-lug barrel, that I paid $550 for, used. It came with the box and accessories, as well as a few minor handling marks and dings in the finish. I'm no expert on .44 Magnum 'Smiths, but I think $550 for the one you're looking at is a decent price. If I had the chance to buy it again, I might've looked for one like you're looking at with the full lug barrel (but only because I like the full lug, and that it would match with my other stainless revolvers, which all have full lug barrels).

Good to hear. I asked as the ss guns are easy to remove the laser etched markings on rounded surfaces such as barrels and have seen quite a few Classics and Mountain Guns in this condition. If it was only marked 629 Classic on one side and blank on the other I wanted you to be aware before proceeding.

i have the ported 629-4 ( powerport it's called)
nice shooting gun..... port really helps with recoil.....
and 550.00 isn't bad on price.....
i think mines going to come out tommrow, and get some range time to get ready for deer season....
