I came across what the guy says is a 629-5 with a square butt. I thought that they had gone to round butts with the -4s.

I consulted the SCSW and couldn't find much out about it.

Anyone have any more info.

One thing to be careful of is someone reading the end label on the box. Late model guns often have oversize grips with a SB shape, and the end label says "Grips = SB". The caution here is that the label is describing the shape of the grips, not the gripframe (meaning that the grips are SB conversion grips on a RB frame).
Lots of folks get off on a tangent with this, but one always needs to take the grips off and look at the frame shape to confirm, especially in that timeframe (M629-5)

Ok, here is what the label on the end of the box says:
model no. 629
caliber .44
barrel 4"
fin. S
stock RB
features RR-WO
product code 103603
serial no. CEL62**
spec. ord. 0286

I was trying to figure out what the spec. ord. number would be but still haven't found the source of that information.
