When did the N frames go from square to round exclusively? Since I can't find a decent set of grips for my sq butt 629, I thought that I'd start looking for a RB model and put a set of X frame grips on it, thanks.

If you're not allergic to rubber, I've had good luck with Hogue monogrips. May even have a pair or two in the surplus box.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm looking for something that covers the back strap. My current 629 classic hunter came with Pachmayr Decellerator's, but they splayed out at the front seam behind the trigger guard.
I took the originals off and have a set of Hogue's on there now.
Try the Hogue wood grips. They don't cover the backstrap but are wider than the Pachs or Hogue rubber so they distribute the recoil over a larger surface area of the hand.
