I found this beautiful 44 mag at my LGS Friday. Needless to say, it's in layaway now. Here's my problem though, I can't find any info on it. All info is for the 2 1/2" barrel backpacker with bear tracks on the cylinder. This one is a 3" round butt unfluted with a red ramp/white outline rear sight. Hogue grips, those will be replaced once it's home. It's not a full underlug. I paid $850, I guess that's a good price for a new limited run 3" 629. The ffl told me it was produced for RSR. He got it back in the late spring of 2011. While he was rotating his stock. It got put in the back of the safe and was forgotten about. He pulled it back out a few months ago. Lucky for me. No pics yet, sorry. Any info would be very helpful. The serial number is CRH91xx. Thanks in advance.

I bought a used one a couple of years ago - 3", unfluted cylinder, Hogue rubber grips, with a lanyard ring (it's screw which holds the monogrips in place). The barrel lug is only about 1/4" shorter than the barrel. It does not have a full length ejector, so you have to pop it with the heel of your hand to break the empties free.

I replaced the rubber grips with a set of Ahrends boot grips before even trying it on the range. Surprisingly, it's not that hard to shoot. The grips fill my hand well, and it doesn't matter than only two fingers fit on it.

I got a good price on it, probably because the previous owner shot it using rubber grips, and wore a raw patch on his hand. It's not everyone's cup of tea. My adult son fired it once, and handed it back to me.

Thanks for the info, I plan on putting ahrends grips on in. I've fired a 4" 629 before and found it enjoyable. So hopefully I won't have any issues. I do reload for my other 44. Pushing a 240 gr swc around 1150fps. Still working up my tolerance to full house magnums. I wonder how much of a loss in velocity I'll have. My other 44 is a 29-5 with an 8 3/8 barrel. Any ideas guys?
