Does anyone make a fihger groove rubber grip that covers the back of the handle, this is a square bottom. I guess im looking for a grip that will lessen felt recoil.

A 629-6 is a round butt - actually, it is the most current iteration of the 629. If your 629 has a squared/open back original Hogue rubber grip, it will be squared at the back bottom, not the steel gripframe within.

Below you'll see my 6" 629-6 with the S&W Accessories (1-800-331-0852) sourced Hogue .500 Magnum grips. They fit the RB K/L/N/X frames - and pad the backstrap, making the trigger pull ~ 3/16" longer - yet improving the recoil absorption by quite a bit. I have them on my 4" 629-6 as well - the best $35 you can spend on an effective grip for the 629.

Stainz

I second what Stainz says: the 500 grips are great. There is gel in the backstrap area that really reduces the amount of recoil you feel. I would still have them on my 629 Classic DX except that my small hands couldn't cope with the slight increase in length of the trigger pull.

I third Stainz. Have the .500 Magnum grip on my 629 Classic and two 686 Plus'. Wish I could put it on all my guns because it fits my hand perfectly.
